We publish articles on notable seismic events that occurred during the half-year period covered by a Summary, as well as articles describing the history and operational standards and procedures used at various observatories and networks that contribute their data to the ISC.

The summary is sent to the ISC members and Summary subscribers in printed form after publication and after two months it is freely available online for the public. The network articles will also be included in the agency's page on the ISC's main page and the articles about notable events will be registered in the ISC Event Bibliography. This makes the Summary a perfect opportunity to present your network/observatory procedures or overview of a notable event to other seismologists, colleagues, or those interested in seismology. 

If you wish to make a contribution and submit an article about a notable event or report about operational procedures of one of the ISC's contributing agencies, please contact the editor of the Summary (summary (at) isc.ac.uk).

There are no publication fees. As a publisher the ISC registers a DOI for every article.

Author Guidelines

The articles should be approximately 10 pages. Coloured figures are welcome.

The scope of the articles about network/observatory procedures usually includes:

• short summary of the regional seismicity,
• short history of the network and instruments in operation,
• current status of operations,
• data processing: procedures currently used in analysis of phase and amplitude picking for local/regional/teleseismic events and event localisation,
• data availability.

The scope of the articles describing notable events can be decided by the author as seen fit.
